There are some fun things that come with a renovation. For me its preparing the next step:
I ordered the Farrow & Ball color card to find the perfect white.
Again, Martin thinks I’m
crazy a little bit too picky when it comes to “just white walls” but white is not always white and the tint is important for the look & feel of a room. There was a great article about the different whites on Design*Sponge a few weeks ago.
After I narrowed it down to my 4 favorite whites (and 3 tints for the bathroom ceiling) I ordered tiny sample pots and let me just tell you: Farrow & Ball is the net-a-porter for Renovators! The packaging was stunning (but of course also the paint was from exceptional quality!)
These are the 4 whites I ordered: welvet, ammonite, white tie and dimity.
I tried them on different spots in different rooms to see how they turn out next to the windows and in natural light during the day. I can highly recommend the sample paints it’s so important to see them “live” on your wall, next to your ceiling, floor, windows and light switches! Also Martin agreed that it was (probably still a crazy but also) a pretty good idea to do that.
As a resume I can tell that white tie couldn’t make it to the final ones. (its a little bit to yellowish for the wooden window frames). And after some back and forth Martin and I decided to go with strong white (not pictured) which is slightly whiter than Ammonite.
Can’t wait to see how it will turn out.
We take a few days off from our construchtion site and our day-jobs to take a trip through Austria (literally! 900 km from one end of Austria to the other) We (Martin, Gustav and me) are going to visit my good friend Eva and her husband Jacob in Salzburg and after a short overnight-stay there we’re going much further west to visit Anja and her family in Vorarlberg. Looking forward to see them again! And celebrate Easter traditions with them. Keep my fingers crossed that the weather’s good.
You can follow our little roadtrip via Instagram or read my review in a view days on the blog.
Do you remember a few month ago I told you I’m going to share some interior design moodboards every once in a while on atreefor2.
Today I’m going to share a moodboard for the exterior design/garden with you!
Because since we planted our new cherry tree for our balcony a few weeks ago (which is in full bloom now!) I imagine myself on our beautiful new sun deck and I really can’t think of anything else at the moment. It’s literally on my mind everyday (at least every sunny day)! I was raised on the countryside and I’m a true country gal who can’t wait to ran barefoot through the garden as soon as the first sunbeam hits the ground in spring!
So take a look at this…

I imagine myself sitting under our sunblind construction – we planned on building ourselfs. Houseshaped and made of metal and maybe wood!? Not totally sure about the sunroof yet but you can see on the skribble below how we imagine it to be (maybe a project for next year or winter to weld this construction). Anyway. This summer I’d love to take a seat next to Martin on my new dream Acapulco-style chair (1) or in the beautiful and comfy IKEA’s Högsten chair (2) wearing Andy Wolf shades (3 & 4) and clink glasses with Martin to our new sundeck! A girl can dream right?…
